Dr. Supraja Anand is an Associate Professor at University of South Florida in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the director of SMS lab. Dr. Anand’s research interests include evaluation of effects of aging on speech production, effects of task complexity on acoustic characteristics of speech in individuals with Parkinson disease (PD), and speech staging in individuals with PD. Dr. Anand joined USF in August 2016 and teaches SPA 6211 - Advanced Vocal Disorders at the graduate level as well as SPA 4901 - Research Methods in CSD at the undergarduate level.

Undergraduate Students

1. Lindsay Wilson is an undergraduate student majoring in Language, Speech, and Hearing Sciences at the University of South Florida. She is interested in learning more about pediatric voice disorders as part of her Honors thesis and research experience in the lab. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at GiGi's Playhouse, painting, and baking.

2. Olivia Horvath is an undergraduate at the University of South Florida completing her degree in Health Sciences and is pursuing a career in communication sciences and disorders. Olivia is excited to learn about the field of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences through research experience in the lab regarding aging and motor speech disorders. She is also interested in learning more about the implications of treatments pertaining to neuromotor conditions and various developmental disorders and how they affect speech production. In her free time, you can find Olivia in the University’s Herd of Thunder Marching Band, reading a book, or taking care of her plants.

Doctoral Students

Mary Pyfrom, MA, CCC-SLP, MT-BC is interested in examining the bi-directional relationship between cognition and voice production. Her broader research questions are (1) How can we use cognitive domains to improve voice outcomes in clinical practice and (2) How can voice production be used to monitor cognitive changes in older adults or in people with neurodegenrative diseases.Mary has been a practicing Speech Language Pathologist for over 13 years and is a board-certified Music Therapist.
